Introduced in the early 1980's, the T5 has become a highly evolved, extremely compact, and versatile 5 speed manual transmission. In its rich history, the T5 has been installed as original equipment in many Australian and overseas vehicles. Today, the T5 is available in its latest spec. Sometimes referred to as " Z Spec" (from Ford's part number 7003Z). It has a 2.95 first gear with .63 over drive, hardened gears, short throw factory shifter, steel front bearing retainer, tapered output shaft bearing and a seven tooth-drive speedometer gear. Best of all it has a torque rating of 330ft/lbs. making it a perfect option for any moderate powered hot rod, street car, or kit car.
